Job Description:
The City of Kendallville Water Department is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual to join our team as a full-time WATER DEPARMENT DISTRIBUTION employee. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, be motivated to serve others, and enjoy working in a variety of interesting and challenging situations. This is a full-time position, with full employee benefits. Applicants must submit, either electronically or in person to the Clerk's Office, a completed application by 4:00 pm on June 5, 2026.
Duties include:
- Read water meters.
- Operate Backhoe.
- Operate Mini-Excavator.
- Operate Hydro-Excavator.
- Repair Service Lines.
- Repair Water Mains.
- Install Valves.
- Maintain Fire Hydrants.
- Equipment Maintenance.
- Maintain an assigned work truck.
- Have a Class B CDL or be willing to obtain one.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions outside and inside.
- Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds.
Benefits:
- Longevity pay (after first year) $100.00/year.
- 1 year of service completed: 5 vacation days.
- 2-5 years of service completed: 10 vacation days.
- 6-10 years of service completed: 15 vacation days.
- 11-15 years of service completed: 20 vacation days.
- 15 or more years of service completed: 25 vacation days.
- Holidays: 15 per year.
